To become a Little Brother or Little Sister, a child must be between 5-12 years old, live in Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Knox, Marshall, Stark or Fulton counties, and need the support of an additional caring adult who can serve as a friend and mentor by involving the child in various activities and assist the child in growing to be a responsible citizen. Eligibility Requirements
1. The child must be between the ages of 5 and 12.
2. That the child has the capacity and willingness to relate to the volunteer.
3. All parties (child, parent/guardian, and agency) agree that the services are needed and desired, and the child could benefit by a Big Brother/Big Sister relationship.
4. The parent must be encouraging and capable of supporting the Big-Little relationship.
5. Children whose problems are so severe that the Big Brothers/Big Sisters services are inappropriate will not be considered.
6. The parent/guardian must cooperate with all match follow-up.
*Note: Exceptions to any one of the eligibility requirements can only be made with the approval of the Executive Director.
